Anglerfish
(Varies by Species)

Found in the deep oceans worldwide, the Anglerfish is one of the deep sea's most iconic residents. The glowing lure dangling from its head is not produced by the fish itself — it comes from bioluminescent bacteria living inside the bulb, a partnership the fish cannot survive without.

The reproductive strategy of the deep-sea Anglerfish is perhaps the most extreme in nature — the tiny male bites into the female and fuses permanently into her body, his organs dissolving until he becomes little more than an appendage. A single female can carry multiple males at once, making what appears to be one fish actually a collection of individuals merged into one!
