Atlas Moth
(Attacus atlas)
Found in the forests of South and Southeast Asia, the Atlas Moth is one of the largest moths in the world, with a wingspan reaching up to 25 centimeters. Its wingtips are patterned to resemble the heads of snakes — a convincing enough mimicry that it deters many predators.
Like the Titan Beetle, adult Atlas Moths have no functioning mouths and cannot eat — they survive entirely on fat reserves accumulated as caterpillars and live for only one to two weeks, existing solely to reproduce!
