Found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide, the Frogfish is a master of disguise and one of the ocean's most ambush-adapted predators. When prey ventures close enough, it strikes using one of the fastest feeding mechanisms of any vertebrate — opening its mouth and expanding its jaw cavity so rapidly that it creates a vacuum, sucking prey in within 6 milliseconds, as seen in the gif below.
It can also change color and texture to mimic sponges, rocks, and coral with remarkable precision!
