Found in underground streams in the Western Ghats of India, Kryptoglanis is a small catfish so anatomically strange that scientists initially struggled to classify it. Its skull bones are arranged differently from virtually any other fish, and its body can compress to fit through tiny rock crevices. It was only formally described in 2011!
