Longisquama
(Longisquama insignis)

Living during the Triassic period, Longisquama is one of paleontology's most debated creatures. Its most striking feature is a row of enormously elongated, feather-like scales projecting from its back — structures so unusual that scientists have argued for decades about their function, variously suggesting they were used for gliding, display, or thermoregulation!
