Found in the cold waters of the North Atlantic and North Pacific, the Lumpsucker is a small, rotund fish that looks less like a fish and more like a pebble with eyes. Its pelvic fins have been modified into a powerful adhesive disc on its underside, allowing it to anchor itself firmly to rocks in strong currents. It is the male who guards the eggs after spawning, fanning them with his fins and protecting them so devotedly that he rarely eats during the entire brooding period!
A closer look at its "suction cup"!
