Stethacanthus
(Varies by Species)

Living during the Carboniferous, Stethacanthus was a shark unlike any alive today — and unlike almost anything that has ever existed. The males bore an extraordinary anvil-shaped structure on their backs covered in tooth-like denticles, mirroring a similar patch on the top of their heads. The exact purpose of this bizarre apparatus remains unknown!
