Tanuki
(Nyctereutes viverrinus)

Found across East Asia and parts of Europe where it has been introduced, the Tanuki — also known as the Raccoon Dog — is the only canid known to enter a state of torpor during winter, retreating into dens when temperatures drop.

Despite looking almost identical to a raccoon, the resemblance is entirely coincidental!
