Tree Stump Spider

Tree Stump Spider
(Poltys columnaris)

Found in parts of South and Southeast Asia, the Tree Stump Spider — also called the wrap-around spider — has a flattened, disc-shaped abdomen that it can curl around a branch and press flush against the bark, making it effectively disappear into the surface it rests on. The camouflage is so effective that it is routinely overlooked by both predators and researchers despite sitting in plain sight!
