Habitat: Found in diverse regions from mountaintops, the deep sea, tropical rainforests, and even the Antarctic. 

Diet: Feeds on animal and plant cell fluids.

Size: About 0.5mm (0.02in).

Lifecycle: Varies from a few months to 2 years but can live for decades in their dehydrated 'tun' state.

Tardigrades are capable of going into a dehydrated 'tun' state where no metabolic activity takes place. In this form it is extremely resilient allowing it to survive extreme temperature,  extreme pressure, radiation, dehydration, starvation, and even air deprivation!
