Found across southern Europe and parts of Asia, the Gas Plant, also known as the Burning Bush, is a flowering plant with a remarkable and slightly theatrical claim to fame. Its seed pods and flowers produce volatile oils in such quantities that on hot, still evenings they can briefly ignite if a flame is held close — producing a flash that, true to its name, leaves the plant itself completely unharmed.
