In cultivation worldwide but originally native to China, the Ginkgo is one of the most ancient tree species on Earth, and individual trees can live for over a thousand years. During the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945, several Ginkgo trees located close to the blast survived and continued to grow — they are still alive today!
