Found in the forests and alpine meadows of the Himalayas, the Himalayan Monal — the national bird of Nepal — is one of the most dazzlingly colourful birds in the world. The male's plumage shifts through iridescent greens, blues, purples, and coppers depending on the light.
It uses its strong curved bill to dig through snow and frozen soil in search of roots, bulbs, and insects!
