Hummingbird Hawk-Moth
(Macroglossum stellatarum)
Found throughout the Old World from Portugal to Japan, the Hummingbird Hawk-Moth is not a hummingbird but it surely looks like one! It uses its long proboscis while hovering in the air to feed on nectar from flowers.
They have sharp eyes using sight to find food and are strong fliers! They fly, not just during the day, but also at dusk, dawn, and even in rain unlike other diurnal hawk-moths.
