Oarfish
(Regalecus glesne)
Found in deep ocean waters worldwide, the Oarfish is the world’s longest bony fish, reportedly reaching lengths of up to 11 meters!
Its enormous size and rare surfacing near coastlines — usually when sick or dying — has earned it a reputation as a harbinger of doom, with many cultures believing its appearance predicts earthquakes or disasters, giving it the nickname the “Doomsday Fish.”
