Osedax

Osedax
(Osedax roseus)

Found in the deep-sea across the Pacific, Atlantic, Arctic, and South Oceans.

Females range from 1 - 10cm (0.4 - 3.9in) while Males are less than 1mm.

Feeds on fat and protein inside Whale, and Fish Bones.

They are known to live for months to years but specifics are unknown. They seem to live as long as their food source remains.

Rather than relying on teeth, Osedax secrete acid to bore into bone to access the nutrients! Then after that symbiotic bacteria living in the worms’ bodies digest the nutrients and somehow transfers it to this worm.
