Found across Africa and Asia, the Pangolin is the world's most trafficked mammal — a sobering title for such a remarkable animal.

 

When threatened, it rolls into a tight ball, protected by its overlapping keratin scales — so tough that even lions struggle to pry it open.

It has no teeth, instead swallowing small stones to help grind up the ants and termites it scoops up with a tongue longer than its own body!
