Pink Fairy Armadillo
(Chlamyphorus truncatus)
Found in the dry grasslands of central Argentina, the Pink Fairy Armadillo is the world's smallest armadillo — barely larger than a human hand.
Unlike other armadillos, its shell is only loosely attached along the spine, and is filled with blood vessels that flush pink when the animal needs to regulate its body temperature, essentially using its shell as a radiator.
It is such a capable digger that it can disappear beneath the sand in seconds!
