Found in eastern Australia and Tasmania, the Platypus is one of nature’s most bizarre creatures — a venomous, egg-laying mammal with a beaver-like tail and a duck-like bill!

Its bill is packed with thousands of electroreceptors that detect the tiny electrical signals produced by the muscles of its prey, allowing it to hunt with its eyes, ears, and nose completely shut underwater.

Male Platypuses also have venomous spurs on their hind legs, capable of delivering a painful sting that can cause swelling lasting months!
