Sri Lankan Frogmouth
(Batrachostomus moniliger)

Found in the rainforests of Sri Lanka and southern India, the Sri Lankan Frogmouth is a master of camouflage — its mottled brown and grey plumage makes it look like a piece of dead wood when it freezes in place, which it does whenever it senses danger.

Pairs are thought to mate for life, and are often found roosting together in such perfect stillness that they are routinely overlooked!
