Stiletto Snake
(Atractaspis engaddensis)
Native to Africa with a limited distribution in the Middle East.
Ranges from 30 - 50cm (12 - 20in) in length.
Feeds on Frogs and small Mammals but their main diet consists of Burrowing Reptiles found in old Termite Mounds.
Lives for around 12 - 20 years.
Unlike other venomous snakes, Stiletto Snakes have the ability to strike from the sides of their head, without ever having to open its mouth!
