Found across sub-Saharan Africa, the Stiletto Snake is a burrowing species with a rather unique and unsettling party trick — it doesn’t need to open its mouth to strike! Its fangs are positioned at the side of its mouth, allowing it to stab sideways without ever opening its jaws, making it nearly impossible to handle safely even by experienced herpetologists!
