Native to the Ryukyu Archipelago in Japan typically near stagnant water and man made structures.
Around 12.8 - 18cm (5 - 7.1in) long.
Feeds on Insects like Mosquitoes, Beetles, and Ants. Also Crustaceans, Snails, Tadpoles, among other things.
Lives for around 10 - 20 years. Can reach 30+ years in captivity.
