Designation: True Salamander

Habitat: It is only found in the Ryukyu Archipelago in Japan typically near cool, stagnant, bodies of water and man made structures.

Diet: Feeds on insects like mosquitoes, beetles, ants, as well as crustaceans, snails, and tadpoles among other things.

Size: Around 12.8 to 18cm (5 to 7.1in) long.

​​

Lifecycle: Reports show they have lived longer than 20 years in captivity.
