Found all over the world, from mountaintops to the deep sea, tropical rainforests, and even the arctic.
About 0.5mm (0.02in) long.
Feeds on Animal and Plant Cell Fluids.
Lives for few months to 2 years but can live for decades in their dehydrated 'tun' state.
Tardigrades are capable of going into a dehydrated 'tun' state where no metabolic activity takes place. In this form it is extremely resilient allowing it to survive extreme temperature, extreme pressure, radiation, dehydration, starvation, and even air deprivation!
